Fabric

If you find the fabric of me, lost and torn apart,
There are certain stitches I need to come back to life, with a full heart.

Use a thread of family, for without this I cannot exist,
Family is the air in my lungs and the deepest love I've ever known,
If you cannot use the thread of family- leave me here, I'd rather remain unsewn.

I'd also like a colorful thread of friendship if you don't mind,
There's something to be said for finding the people of your kind,
Friendship gives my legs the encouragement to step,
How fearless I am with the push of friendship's breath.

If I could get the thickest thread of love, but don't knot the end,
I'll grab hold of it and weave it through the journey,
I promise I won't waste it
and make sure others know they're loved by me.

Please use a thread of music,
Intertwined with a song of gold,
For music makes my heart bounce
and reminds me of stories I've never told.

A thread of creativity would be deeply appreciated,
For isn't to create the reason we're all created?
Stitch together the creation of me
and I'll continue on the magic of creation by uniquely staying me.

Last, but not least, please find as many threads of experience that you can,
I want to feel it all, once I'm sewn together and upright on this land.

Pack in the heartache, tears, and compassion,
Pack in the laughter, triumphs, and all the mis-happens.
I want the fabrics of me to go on a beautiful adventure,
No stone unturned and love always the cure.

And when my fabric starts to fade and my stitches unfold,
Wrap me around my children,
I'm forever theirs to hold.
